“Family School has really helped me become a more accepting person because |
“Family School has helped me form opinions in my daily and religious life and those values and
experiences will stay with me forever.” “Family School has taught me the lessons and teachings of both Christianity and Judiasm, but it has also taught me to be open, not only to my religions, but to the beliefs of others as well.” “We now have a deeper understanding of our beliefs that we couldn’t have gotten anywhere else. Family School has been a completely unique experience in my life and it will help prepare me for many more years of questioning and thought.” “The whole Family School experience has made me proud to say that I am both Jewish and Catholic, and not to be afraid to do so.” “I feel very proud to be Jewish and Catholic. Because of my experiences in Family School I will probably celebrate both Jewish and Catholic holidays for the rest of my life.” “My parents taught me dedication, commitment, morals, and values. Family School nurtured those traits and also helped me find my identity.” “Family School has given me the base to question my two religions, because I have a broader sense of things. I’m seeing religion and spirituality through the eyes of two sides instead of one.” “I have learned that no matter where I pray, in church or temple, I can feel accepted and believe that I am praying to the same God.” “When I think of the harmony that we Jews and Catholics are able to find and create a place like this, I wonder how to achieve that harmony in places where it is absent.” “We all have accepted both religions into our lives, and most likely all religions. Many people in the Middle East have not learned to do this yet, but hopefully will someday.” “What an amazing, spiritual, logical concept that if there are enough outsiders, they are no longer outsiders, because they have a group. There is still one important difference between an outsider group and an insider group, the difference that makes this school so amazing: acceptance.” “Family School has really helped me become a more accepting person because in some ways being in Family School demands other people accepting you in a very subtle way. You treat others how you want to be treated right? If you get that respect it opens one’s eyes to accept and respect others.” “We’ve learned that these two religions are different, but based on the same thing: people who want to believe in something higher than themselves to guide them and support them throughout their life. We have learned about compassion, hope and forgiveness, and I don’t think our parents could want anything more for us. “There are a lot of issues around the world about disputed religions, and if people could just accept each other’s differences in belief, we would be one huge step closer to world peace.” “Thank you to my class for taking this journey with me. You all know me better than I know myself.” Contact us now if you are looking for a Jewish and Catholic interfaith educational program for your children from kindergarten through 8th grade. | |
